The human in the loop

I build software for a living, and these days most of it has AI somewhere in the middle. Right now I'm Chief Product Officer at CICO. I decide what we build and why, and I still write the hard parts myself, because I can't make good calls about a system I never touch.

The work I enjoy most is the messy kind: payments, bookings syncing with every travel site, AI agents clicking through real websites and trying not to lie about what they saw. My job is to make all of that feel simple. If it looks easy from the outside, someone did the hard part properly.

Outside work I write about AI-assisted engineering, tinker with automation, and keep an unhealthy number of uptime dashboards open.
